Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) is proud to announce the successful completion of its Leadership for Systemic Change project funded by Women And Gender Equality (WAGE). Over the past 30 months, this initiative has empowered many immigrant and racialized women, equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to pursue leadership roles. By providing comprehensive training, mentorship, placement and networking opportunities, the project has significantly contributed to breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive environment where these women can thrive and influence positive change.
Despite the project’s conclusion, the need for such a transformative program remains critical. The achievements of the Leadership for Systemic Change project have demonstrated its value, but the work is far from complete. Immigrant and racialized women continue to face systemic challenges that hinder their ability to access leadership positions and participate fully in decision-making processes. Continued funding is essential to sustain and expand this impactful program, ensuring that more women can benefit from its resources and support.
Securing additional funding will enable IWSO to build on the project’s success and further its mission of promoting equity and inclusion. By continuing this program, we can provide ongoing support to immigrant and racialize women who are striving to make a difference in their communities and beyond. It is imperative that we maintain the momentum generated by this project, helping more women gain the opportunities they deserve to sit at tables where significant decisions are made and to effect meaningful change.
