In the last newsletter, we reported that we were back on track with the Leadership for systemic change project, after a few months of hiatus.
To prevent the delay in the activities of Cohort #1 from affecting Cohort #2, we did not wait for Cohort %1 to complete all the workshops before recruiting the 2nd Cohort. We started recruiting in June.
To date, 14 immigrant and racialized women have been recruited and are part of the 2nd Cohort. Once Cohort 2 was recruited, they joined Cohort 1 for the remaining workshops, saving time and resources.
Thus, Cohort #2 has already benefited from 4 workshops:
- Canadian System
- Advocacy
- Introduction to Intersectionality and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
- Not-For-Profit Governance
To date, Cohort #1 has completed all workshops, and continues the placement and mentorship part of the Leadership for Systemic Change program, while Cohort #2 continues the next workshops in their curriculum.
The next steps for Cohort #2 will be the pairing of participants with strong mentors and exciting placement opportunities in and around Ottawa and the surrounding areas.
IWSO (Immigrant Women Services Ottawa) is now planning to organize a networking event that will bring together Cohorts #1 and #2, along with current and potential project partners.
