Ottawa, ON — Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO) is pleased to receive, for a second year, support for our Milk Program in the amount of $10,000 from the Ellen Savage Fund – Ottawa Community Foundation.

This funding arrives at a critical time and will enable IWSO to provide nutritious milk to immigrant and racialized children across Ottawa. By easing the financial burden of rising grocery costs, the Milk Program helps vulnerable families put healthy food on the table while ensuring children receive the nourishment they need for healthy growth and development.

“IWSO extends its heartfelt thanks to the Ellen Savage Fund – Ottawa Community Foundation for their continued commitment to uplifting underserved communities,” says Josephine Basudde, Manager, Crisis Intervention and Counselling Services at IWSO.

IWSO’s unique programs for immigrant and racialized women fleeing violence in-cludes services provided by a multidisciplinary team of crisis counsellors, profes-sional translators, settlement and integration counsellors, and volunteers. Clients are encouraged to participate in facilitated peer-support groups to encourage new con-nections and friendships. While accessing services, mothers can leave their children in IWSO’S onsite drop-in playroom for children, supervised by professional, multilin-gual staff.
