Ottawa, ON – April 24, 2025 Immigrant Women!s Services Ottawa (IWSO) is proud to announce renewed support from the Columbus Club Council 485 Charitable Foundation for $1500, whose ongoing generosity helps fund crucial programming for immigrant and racialized women in the Ottawa area.

“We are proud to once again support IWSO in their mission. The Foundation knows how important it is to provide safe, secure, and confidential services and for immigrant and racialized women escaping violence and seeking a fresh start in Ottawa,” said Dan Sullivan, Board Chair of the Club. “This funding will support IWSO pro-grams, which are designed to provide coping strategies, self-care tools, and a safe community for immigrant women navigating trauma and transition.”

“The need for specialized services for immigrant and racialized women in Ottawa is greater than ever. Support from the Council comes at a crucial time, ensuring that IWSO can continue providing essential, life-saving assistance through our services to women and children facing crisis situations,” says Mercy Lawluvi, Executive Di-rector of IWSO.

“Immigrant and racialized women who receive culturally appropriate support through IWSO are better able to integrate confidently into society and the local economy,” said Thao Duong, Manager of Settlement and Integration Services at IWSO. “Thanks to today’s grant, we’ll be able to continue offering vital support to our clients, helping them build lives free from violence alongside their children.”
